Stardew Valley Community Center Guide

It is strongly recommended that you complete the community center over the Joja Mart Warehouse because you receive much better/more rewards from the community center.

Warning: DO NOT complete one of the community center bundles then purchase a JojaMart membership. This will result in the inability to get either achievement.

Completing the community center is a little easier if you chose fruit bats for your cave, but mushrooms is the better long term choice; the fruit from your cave is worthless once you have the appropriate trees and a greenhouse.

Most items can be purchased from the travelling cart that shows up in the forest on Fridays and Sundays. This is a great option for fruit or out of season goods.

Community Center

The community center requires an extremely wide range of goods. It requires you to experience almost all aspects of Stardew Valley.

The biggest drawback to completing the community center is that certain goods can only be obtained during certain seasons and if you miss the season, you have to wait the entire year.

Priority Rewards

  1. Pantry is your main focus.
    • Plant as many fertilized parsnips, melons, pumpkin, and corn as you can.
    • Check each season to make sure you finish the season's crop bundle.
    • Build a silo in the spring, get your coop and barn in the summer (upgrade them in the fall). Get a chicken, a duck, a rabbit, a cow, and a goat and raise their happiness to around 4 hearts before Winter 1.
  2. Boiler Room is next. This can be done while growing crops for the pantry.
  3. Any extra money goes to the vault (this is more important than getting a kitchen)
    • 25k bundle first (unless you have 10k around the first week of summer)
    • 10k bundle if early summer
    • Otherwise 5k bundle first (save the chocolate cake for the fair)
    • Lastly, the 2.5k bundle.
  4. Craft Room is next. This shouldbe done by first few days of your first winter. This room isn't hard to do, just make sure you do it.
  5. Fish Tank is second to last; fish when you have time (especially on rainy days). Choose fishing over mining if you don't have this room done.
  6. Bulletin board last. Dome of the items aren't even available until the second summer.

Seasonal Checklist

Since some items are only available in particular seasons, make sure you get them as early as possible. If the items aren't mentioned in any of these particular seasons, they can be reasonable gathered during any season; some items may be mentioned during a particular season because it's the earliest they can be gathered or the most reasonable time to gather them.

Spring

Plant an orange and peach tree spring 15-20 to allow 28 days to grow for summer bloom.

Summer

In addition to the items listed above, get a coop (with a chicken and a duck) and a barn (with a cow and a goat) so you finish the animal bundle before the start of winter.

Plant an apple and pomegranate tree summer 15-20 to allow 28 days to grow for fall bloom.

Fall

Plant a cherry and apricot tree sometime in the fall (or winter) to allow 28 days to grow for spring bloom.

Winter

Crafts Room
Reward: Bridge Repair

The crafts room is very easy to complete as long as you are aware that each season has it's own bundle. Each season's bundle can be finished in the first 2-3 days of a season and the two other bundles happen as you play the game.. chop down a few trees, go through the mines, and you've completed them.

The reward for completing the crafts room is access to the quarry. It's kind of nice for the first week or two of winter. Clear it out completely as soon as you get it, then check it every week or two. No need to check it every day.

Spring Foraging Bundle
Reward: 30x Spring Seed

One of each of the following items:

ItemLocationSeason
Wild Horseradish Foraging Spring only
Daffodil Foraging Spring only
Leek Foraging Spring only
Dandelion Foraging Spring only

Nothing special for the spring foraging bundle. Just spend the first couple of days looking for these items in the forest, at the bus stop, or near the mines.

Summer Foraging Bundle

One of each of the following items:

ItemLocationSeason
Grape Foraging
Cave (if fruit bats)
Summer only
Any time (if fruit bats)
Spice Berry Foraging

Same as the spring bundle, nothing special. Just look for them around Stardew Valley. Grapes and spice berries can be found in the cave near on your farm if you chose bats.

Fall Foraging Bundle
Reward: 30x Fall Seed

One of each of the following items:

ItemLocationSeason
Common Mushroom Foraging
Secret Forest

Cave (if fruit bats)

Anytime (with fruit bats)
Hazelnut Foraging Fall only
Blackberry Foraging
Cave (if fruit bats)
Fall (foraging)
Anytime (with fruit bats)

If you can get an iron axe before the end of spring, you can get common mushroom from the secret forest. Plums and blackberries can be found in the cave if you chose fruitbats. Otherwise, just wander around the forest, mines, and bus stop early in the fall to find most of these items.

99 Wood The Forest
Your Farm
All seasons
99 Stone The Mines
Your Farm
All seasons
10 Hardwood Your farm
Secret Forest
All seasons

You'll get all of these resources by playing the game. You'll want to build a silo, a coop, and maybe a barn before you finish this (and finish this before upgrading your house). The kiln is kind of neat if you'd rather chop down trees instead of farming sprites in the mines.

Exotic Foraging Bundle
Reward: 5x Autumn's Bounty

Complete six of the following items:

ItemLocationSeason
Coconut Calico Desert Any season
Cactus Fruit Calico Desert Any season
Cave Carrot The Mines, normally in boxes

Oak Resin Oak trees using a tapper Any season

Pine Resin Pine trees using a tapper Any season

Morel Secret Forest
Cave (if mushroom cave)
Spring only
Anytime (if mushroom cave)

Easiest way to get this is to upgrade your axe before the end of spring to get access to the secret forest for the morel, then just go through the mines for the cave carrot and two other mushrooms, and finally fill in with resin or syrup. No need to get the stuff from the desert.

Pantry
Reward: Greenhouse

The greenhouse is arguably the most important community center reward in Stardew Valley for two seasons: (1) this allows to farm in the winter, (2) this allows you to grow any crops all season long. It's a great money maker and allows you to open up farmland for other things.

Make sure you stay on top of this one, especially the quality crop bundle. You don't want to miss finishing this room before winter or you'll be pretty bored in the winter.

Animals can be tricky. As this guide mentions in various parts, start the animals bundle as early as you can. Start planning in the spring and summer for it and you should have it wrapped up by early winter at the latest.

Spring Crops Bundle
Reward: 20x Speed-Gro

Make sure to plant the following crops before the end of spring (preferably in the first 10-15 days):

Cauliflower Farm (buy seeds from Pierre's) Spring only

All of the seeds can be purchased from Pierre's General Store. Plant extra parsnips (with fertilizer) so you can complete the quality bundle along with this one.

Summer Crops Bundle

ItemLocationSeason

Hot Pepper Farm (buy seeds from Pierre's) Summer only

Melon Farm (buy seeds from Pierre's) Summer only

Plant extra melons and corn (again, with fertilizer) so you can complete the quality bundle and get a head start on the fall crops bundle.

Fall Crops Bundle

Make sure to plant the following crops before the end of fall (preferably in the first 10-15 days):

ItemLocationSeason
Corn Farm (buy seeds from Pierre's) Fall only

Yam Farm (buy seeds from Pierre's) Fall only

Plant extra pumpkins with fertilizer so you can complete the quality crop bundle.

ItemLocationSeason
5x Parsnip (Gold quality) Farm Spring only
5x Melon (Gold quality) Farm Summer only
5x Corn Farm Summer or Fall
5x Pumpkin Farm Fall only

If you've planted crops aggressively, you should be able to finish this bundle easily. Just remember to fertilze and plant the appropriate crop each season in your first year.

Reward: Cheese Press

The following items require a chicken, a duck, a cow, a goat, and either a rabbit or a sheep:

There's a lot to this bundle; if you chose the fruit bats for your cave, this bundle is pretty easy. Either way, check the travelling merchant on Fridays and Sundays and you shouldn't have an issue. She sells all of the fruit.

Fish Tank
Reward: Glittering Boulder removal (Access to Panning)

The fish tank is another room that punishes you for poor planning. If you don't catch a pufferfish or sunfish by the end of summer, you're stuck waiting until the following year.

Panning isn't too great though. Slightly better than a geode but it seems to be pretty rare. You'll need to get in the habit of paying attention to the water whenever you're walking along the river or ocean.

All of the bundle rewards are pretty bad.

River Fish Bundle

The vault must be completed before finishing this bundle because it requires access to Calico Desert.

Boiler Room
Reward: Mine Cart repair

The boiler room reward is the second best reward in the community center, maybe even the best reward. The mine cart allows fast travel between the bus stop, the mines, the quarry, and the town (by the blacksmith). It's a huge time saver and takes all of the annoyance of geode breaking away from mining. This reward is especially useful in the winter when most of your time is spent between Calico Desert, the mines, and the blacksmith anyways.

Blacksmith's Bundle
Reward: Furnace

Requires all three of the following items:

ItemLocationSeason
Copper Bar 5 copper ore, 1 coal w/ a furnace All seasons
Iron Bar 5 copper ore, 1 coal w/ a furnace All seasons

Any season
Void Essence The Mines (dropped by shadow creatures)
Sold by Krobus in the sewer
Any season
Any season

Kill all the bats and any monsters in the mines after about level 80 to easily complete this bundle. Don't waste your time with the slimes, save that for slime machines.

Bulletin Board
Reward: Friendship (Improve the friendship level of all non-marriage candidate by 2 hearts)

The bulletin board is the most tedious of all of the bundles and requires a lot more planning than the other bundles.

All of the rewards are worthless because they show up too late. You'll already have access to all of the equipment by the time you complete the bundle.

Chef's Bundle
Reward: 3x Pink Cake

Collect all six of the following items:

ItemLocationSeason
Maple Syrup Maple trees with a tapper Any season
Fiddlehead Fern Secret Woods Summer
Truffle Farm (found by pigs) Spring/Summer/Fall
Poppy Farm Summer
Maki Roll Kitchen (any fish, seaweed, rice) Cooking Channel - Summer 21, Year 1
Fried Egg Kitchen (any egg) -

Between the maki roll and truffle, this bundle is difficult to achieve. Make sure you watched the cooking channel in your first year or you might have to wait until the third year to get the recipe again.

Pink Cake can be used in the Stardew Valley Fair Showcase, but again, the reward is probably too late to be relevant.

Dye Bundle
Reward: Seed Maker

Collect all six of the following items:

ItemLocationSeason
Red Mushroom The Mines (frequently levels 105-120)
Cave (if mushrooms)
Any season
Any season
Sea Urchin Foraged on the beach after reparing the bridge for 300 wood All seasons
Sunflower Farm Summer
Duck Feather Coop Any season
Aquamarine The Mines Any season
Red Cabbage Farm (seeds from Pierre's General Season, Year 2) Summer (Year 2)

This bundle cannot be completed until the summer of year two. Getting an extra seed maker is kind of nice, but they aren't all that expensive (only 1 gold bar, really).

Field Research Bundle
Reward: Recycling Machine

Collect all four of the following items:

ItemLocationSeason
Purple Mushroom The Mines (frequently levels 105-120)
Cave (if mushrooms)
Any season
Any season
Nautilus Shell The Beach Winter only
Chub Lake, river (fishing) All seasons
Frozen Geode The Mines (levels 40-80) Any season

The only planning you need for this bundle is to get a nautilus shell from the beach during the first winter.

Fodder Bundle
Reward: Heater

Collect all three of the following groups of items:

ItemLocationSeason
10x Wheat Farm, from wheat Summer
10x Hay Farm, tall grass w/ a silo
Purchased from Marnie
Spring/Summer/Fall
Any season
3x Apples Farm, apple trees
Cave (with fruit bats)
Fall
Any season

If you planted an apple tree early in the summer of year 1, this bundle isn't too bad to get; otherwise, you're hoping to get lucky in your fruit cave or the travelling cart.

Enchanter's Bundle
Reward: 5x Gold Bar

Collect all four of the following items:

ItemLocationSeason
Oak Resin Oak trees w/ a tapper Any season
Wine Any fruit w/ a keg Spring/Summer/Fall
Rabbit's Foot Coop (rabbit)
Skull Cavern (dropped by serpents)
Any season
Any season
Pomegranate Farm, pomegranate trees Fall

Nothing too special for the enchanter's bundle. The rabbit's foot is annoying to get, but it's more time consuming than difficult. Remember to check the travelling merchant for pomegranate.

Vault
Reward: Bus Repair

The total cost of bus repair is 42,500g, which is slightly higher than it would be if you were to take the warehouse route (40,000g). The community center route is a little nicer because you get a few good rewards (especially the crystalarium) and you get to break the cost up into four parts.

2,500g Bundle
Reward: 3x Chocolate Cake

ItemLocationSeason
2,500g Anywhere All

The chocolate cake reward is fantastic for the Stardew Valley Fair Showcase.

5,000g Bundle
Reward: 30x Quality Fertilizer

ItemLocationSeason
5,000g Anywhere All

Don't bother with this bundle until you want access to the desert. 30x quality fertilizer is so-so, better spent on other things.

10,000g Bundle
Reward: Lightning Rod

ItemLocationSeason
10,000g Anywhere All

This bundle is only worth it if you can get 10,000g early in the first year. Once summer has passed, the reward isn't worth it. Skip it until you want access to the desert.

25,000g Bundle
Reward: Crystalarium

ItemLocationSeason
25,000g Anywhere All

The 25,000g bundle rewards a crystalarium, an item that allows you to make copies of minerals found in the mines. This is probably the best reward from all of the bundles and should be used to make copies of earth crystals for mayonnaise machines if you plan on raising chickens or ducks. Other solid choices are fire quartz (gold quality) or diamonds for money.

Joja Warehouse

You have the option of purchasing a membership to Joja Mart instead of completing the community center bundles. All refurbishments are done through Joja Mart and have a relatively high gold cost to complete.

The biggest advantage to choosing the warehouse over the communit center is that you can specialize in one or two aspects of Stardew Valley instead of trying to do everything. Basically, if you don't want to raise any animals or absolutely hate fishing, you can still get the more important rewards. Joja Community Development Projects

Joja has five development projects for you to purchase at Joja Mart. The total cost of these projects is 135,000g.

Upon completion of all of the development projects, you will be rewarded with a Soda Machine.
